Day 1 - Travelling

There is something different when travelling to the beach.  But it is always looked forward to with great anticipation.  I think that is why we do this drive!  We started out at 6pm on Thursday evening and made our way.  Jen felt she should drive, so she did.  Traffic was ok but we made somewhat descent time.   This year everyone is two years older.....bigger.  So the seats were posing a little bit of a comfort issue.  Jen and I switched off around 1am but the natives were definately getting restless. DVD's, video games, and iPod's were all exhausted and after several stops we knew that a hotel room would be good.  After an unsuccessful check at a Marriott we found another in NC where we crashed for about 4 hours all in one Kingsized bed.  Jordan opted for a chair!  The next morning we were up and out after a quick breakfast in the lobby.

Then we arrived!!  Unloaded the car, switched into bathing suits and I took the kids to the beach.  Jen ran to the store to stock up.  It was funny, I said, "I feel like we never left!".  Great place, great hotel, great beach.  All the necessary ingredients for a fun week.  Kids hit the surf with a bit of an overcast sky.  Didn't matter.  We are at the beach!!!!  Then it happened, we think Jordan got stung by a tiny jelly.  Still, she hung in there and we grabbed a few italian ices.  That night Jen hooked us up with reservations at a Japan habatchi grill which was a meal we all needed.  We headed back and Jake wanted to hit the water again.  Jill wanted to check out the hot tub.  So we did.  Tide was super strong but we got in some good waves.  Then we jumped into the hot tub for a bit.

Needless to say, we were all wiped out.  Now the adventure begins.......

  1. I can't believe you drove all the way down. I would have fallen asleep before you got to Wilkes-Barre.

On the way back, stop at Richmond and stay overnight. Doesn't one of Jen's friends live there?
